Lookin' 04:26
Lookin' Lookin’ down on these streets of Nashville
Here I am after all of this time
where days fall faster the more you climb hills
I’m not craving the wild nights and wine

Lookin’ down the road toward Memphis
Just trying to make sense of today
Where time stands still and you just exist
I’m not praying for some other way

Lookin’ up in the sky dreaming of Paris
Somewhere I’d take you tonight but all flight have been cancelled so lets just kiss
I’ll take you in my arms and hold you so tight

Lookinʻ in your eyes I see rivers winding through forests of blue Together in a house mirrors Yes...together weʼll make it through

Geography Of The Soul You say I’ve got a fine place
Somewhere to lay my head at night
and try to hide my face
I say I don’t have nowhere to go
and you just don’t know
 the geography of the soul

You say you can’t find your way
through the valley of your fear
You’ll find a map to read one day
when the night turns black as coal
and you’re lost in the forest of
the geography of the soul

Trapped inside of four walls
Inside this box I dream of you
All my love and ache falls I choke and watch my words roll
 down the mountain and through
 the geography of the soul

We tried to swim the ocean
 tried to tame the sea
We tried to scale the mountainside
tried to climb the peak We tried to survive the desert night
 tried to take the heat

It seems like we’ve lost our way
he road has changed you know
This is a foreign land now
Hazards of time take their toll
I can’t recall when we both knew
the geography of the soul

It's The End Of The World Well the sky is falling and my thoughts are grey
The Mayans can’t get that calendar right can they?
My mind is dark and the clouds are low
I’ve picked up a lot along the way
yet there’s so much left to know

It’s the end of the world baby
You know it’s the end of the line
It’s the end of the world baby
when we run out of time
It’s the end of the world baby
when you’re no longer mine
But the worlds gonna be ok
Nothing wrong today
As long as we’re doing fine

The world ain’t going nowhere, no matter what they say
We’re using up the earth, humans have lost their way
But you and I together, we’re still closing the show
We’ve got all the world until there’s nothing That’s how we roll... t’s the end of the world baby
You know it’s the end of the line
t’s the end of the world baby
when we run out of time
It’s the end of the world baby
 when you’re no longer mine
But the worlds gonna be ok
Nothing wrong today
As long as we’re doing fine

Sundown On a Ghost Town A landscape so bleak words can’t speak
A soundtrack paints the hole that time can’t take
Pain comes in waves over open plains
and seeps into the cracks of dawn

In the corner of apartments on every side
Hearts sneak out exits and explode on the streets
Crossing mighty waters down in the flood
collapsing in postcards to real to be sent

Yea down in the flood where the bodies went
The cry of the orphans is the echo you hear
No turning the head no shutting of eyes
just a lone guitar and that hawk in the sky

Sundown on a ghost town is lonely indeed
Sundown on a ghost town might be the cover you need
Sundown on a ghost town is lonely indeed
Sundown on a ghost town might be the cover you need

Another dead Cardinal, is it a sign?
Blood on the window, blood on the ground
Sundown on a ghost town is all we found
Very superstitious in the cold deep north

The woods, the frost, the killing air
You should’ve let her be, never taken her there
The memories won’t leave you where ever you hide
Your soul is a ghost town where ever you go
Sundown on a ghost town is lonely indeed
Sundown on a ghost town might be the cover you need
Sundown on a ghost town is lonely indeed
Sundown on a ghost town might be the cover you need

Vultures 07:30
Vultures Do you believe in the weather?
 Do you believe in gold?
Do you believe in a life together?
Do you believe we’ll grow old?

Do you believe in signs of the times?
Do you believe in trust?
Do you believe in psychic crimes?
Do you believe in lust?

You can believe in your own legend
 Believe in your own fame
You can believe in hell or heaven
You’ll pay the piper just the same

 Believe what you will
 Believe what you will
The vultures show up at your door
Lay them out a feast
 They only ask for more
They’ll eat the meat off your bones
 and never be satisfied
Leave you lying in the road
Looking for the next thing that died
There are vultures at the windows of your soul
 Trying to get inside
Pecking at the fragile glass trying to find a hole
So shine a light and watch them take flight What will you? What will you?
What will you believe?

Do you believe You’re in charge?
Do you believe you’re poor?
Do you believe just a little bit?
Do you believe in more, more, more!?

You can believe in the police man
 You can believe the gun
Do we believe he did it?
Or an innocent on the run?

 Do you believe they’ll shoot?
Or stop when you raise your hands?
Do you believe in the future youth
 and the destiny of man?

 Believe what you will
 Believe what you will
The vultures show up at your door
 Lay them out a feast
 They only ask for more
They’ll eat the meat off your bones
 and never be satisfied
Leave you lying in the road
Looking for the next thing that died
There are vultures at the windows of your soul
Trying to get inside
Pecking at the fragile glass trying to find a hole
So shine a light and watch them them take flight
 What will you?
 What will you?

What will you believe? Do you believe in the government?
What the preacher’s saying on TV?
Do you believe in the firmament?
Stars as far as we can see?

Do you believe in the terror?
Do you believe they’ll cut?
Do you believe in a higher power?
Do you believe your gut?

 You can believe in anything
 made up or found
You can believe in what you sing
 in rhythm and sound

Believe what you will Believe what you will
The vultures show up at your door
 Lay them out a feast
 They only ask for more
They’ll eat the meat off your bones
 and never be satisfied
Leave you lying in the road
Looking for the next thing that died
There are vultures at the windows of your soul
Trying to get inside
Pecking at the fragile glass trying to find a hole
So shine a light and watch them take flight
 What will you?
What will you? What will you believe?

I'm Not The Devil I might be the devil baby
I probably made you bad
If You’d a just said maybe...
not, you wouldn’t be so sad
With an angel of light it felt right
 How could anything go wrong?
First came the night then came the fright
Now you sing a different song

 Just go home
 Don’t you come back
Go alone
 Don’t you ever come back
‘Cuz if you do
 There ain’t no turning around
‘Cuz if you do
Then you’ll be buried ten feet in the ground

If I was the devil baby
 I would make you hot
If I was the devil baby
You’d give me all you got
But I’m not the devil baby
So I’ll try to be a nicer guy
 I’m not the devil baby
So I’ll try to be a nicer guy (c)2012, Jerry Oliver, ASCAP

Magic Band 02:50
Magic Band I can’t seem to get a break around town
I just get that run around
Maybe it’s because I smoke dope all day
Maybe it’s because I’m old and grey

 They’re picking up broken dreamers
Behind the club in Tootsies’ ally downtown
Everyone’s coming from another land
Thinking they’re the next magic band The cable cut off when the heat kicked in
So I turned the stove on and the furnace off
Got my internet connection when the lights went dim
but my server went down now my mind’s gone soft

They’re picking up broken dreamers
Behind the club in Tootsies’ ally downtown
Everyone’s coming from another land
Thinking they’re the next magic band

Save another nickel, save another dime
Take a shot of whisky and try to find a rhyme
Try to make a dollar, grab yourself a girl
Take a hit of grass and try to write a line

 They’re picking up broken dreamers
Behind the club in Tootsies’ ally downtown
Everyone’s coming from another land
Thinking they’re the next magic band (c)2010, Jerry Oliver,ASCAP

Looking For The War In the middle of the night
 I felt the pull,
In my hat and my scarf
 I walked out my door,
 With my head and heart
and my breath beneath the moon,
I went looking for the war I went looking for the war

 On the evening news
 and in the air,
 The papers, coffee shop talk
 and more,
No matter what they say
it seems to be over there,
So I went looking for the war
I went looking for the war

I feel distant rumblings in my bones,

Can’t see it anywhere...
but you know
evil glows in the night somewhere

 It’s silent on my street
 and everyone you meet
greets you with a smile

 War...

It seems to only exist in little boxes for awhile,
But I know it can show up at the door,

 Why does it come?
Why does it go?

I went out looking for the war I went out looking for the war

The night air smells so fresh and clean,
 the skyline is serene
In a bunker underground
men of power pace the floor
I can’t see them, I don’t know them
I just read the magazines I’m out looking for the war
I’m out looking for the war

Veteran selling papers on the street,
hookers sell their soul Casualties lie, I pass them by
 a scene I’ve seen before
I can’t hear them, I can’t help them
just want to let them know
I’ve been looking for the war
I’ve been looking for the war

Explosions flash on the horizon,

You can hear it in the wind and you know
it’s ripping up your world

I t’s loud out in the square
 and everyone is there
yelling out the score

 War...
It seems to live so close to home, I find it everywhere I roam

 Why does it come?
 Why does it go?
I went out looking for the war
I went out looking for the war

I see it everywhere I go
It starts with greed and ends in need
I feel it in my dark heart
and I don’t want it anymore
You don’t have to look very far
when you’re looking for the war
Looking for the war
Looking for the war
Looking for the war

about

For several years fans have been asking Jerry if he has an album of original songs recorded the way they usually hear him live, which is solo; one guitar, one voice and maybe some harmonica here and there. This is that album and there is another one already done and ready to follow up.
The fifteen songs spanning the two releases were recorded in three sessions with Jerry's long time friend and collaborator Pepe as engineer and producer. The first session took place at Jerry's Birdwatcher Studio in Nashville over a weekend in spring 2014. The bulk of the material was recorded over four days in October 2014 at Pepe's Back Of The Head Studio in Arkansas. We fixed a couple things and re-recorded a couple songs in January 2015 at Back Of The Head and then Pepe got to mixing.
We hope this collection of songs written over the last four years takes you on a journey of sound and story beginning with the album Believe. These songs center on relationships and our relationships with the world around us and how it all affects what we believe or don't believe.
