She never had a chance they never saw it coming
He covered their heads with paper sacks
while the children slept and then he left...
One blow to the head and the wife.... and her parents lay dead

The children played alone in the trailer that day
hoping it would all just fade away
He got away with murder He got away with murder
He got away with murder He got away with murder

 In the hot afternoon sun
 a neighbor made the run
She swept them up and grabbed a gun
 and tried to call someone
They put it in the news
but couldn't find the clues
They took him to court and didn't see it coming

He hired the man and stared us down
He picked up his kids and then split town
He got away with murder He got away with murder
He got away with murder He got away with murder

 The end ain't no good
because it doesn't end
He got away with murder He got away with murder
He got away with murder He got away with murder

He put down the remote and took a boat
or hopped a plane to new terrain
He got away with murder He got away with murder He got away with murder He got away with murder
 He got away....

When did the page get turned?
 When did... the chapter change?
 When did....you get burned?
When did I...get out of range?

Oh... won’t you please tell me
 Where did you come from?
Oh...won’t you please tell me....

When did your world stand still?
When did... the sun go down?
Where were the plans what was the thrill?
When did your ghost leave town?

Oh... won’t you please tell me
 Where did you come from?
 Oh...won’t you please tell me....

There’s a high speed chase down a long dark road
Been chasing these old demons longer than the stories I’ve told.....

Well I lost you when I dodged the van
You looked like a vapor when you grabbed my hand
The invisible girl I never saw before
 It’s in her eyes.......

Oh... won’t you please tell me
 Where did you come from?
Oh...won’t you please tell me....

Down...........town, downtown
 down...........town, downtown

You were downtown when the lights went out but your world turned on
She was a shadow in the night you were feelin' alright you were downtown

She can take me down first
drive me up her avenue... she keeps me downtown

 Down...........town, downtown
down...........town, downtown

You were on the floor when the beat went down and you loved the sound
She is the wind and the rain, the traffic on the street she’s got you downtown

She can take me down first
drive me up her avenue... she keeps me downtown

Down...........town, downtown
 down...........town, downtown

Red light, green light, hail a cab, skip a tab
hotel doors, 13 floors, crying tears for the rest of your years

 downtown, you’ll be downtown

Dark Heart 03:43
You have no idea where my dark heart lies
 You have no clue
 How my tears fell blue

 Dark Heart
 We’ve been digging long enough
 Dark Heart
In the shadows you will die
Dark Heart
You flex and think you’re tough
Dark Heart I can’t take your...
I can’t take your...
I can’t take your lies!

Now I need moon glow
 Music low
Drink mysterious sweet nectar
Straight to the head it goes

Computer’s down, all my files have been erased
Phone’s turned off, been kicked out of my place
Car needs repair, my license ain’t no good
Guitar string broke, got more debt than any man should

Do you feel paralyzed? Are you hypnotized?
Un-bury my soul I’m down here screaming
in a hole... please Un-bury my soul

I just want to get higher, but there’s no place left to go
Really need to get wiser, need the babe from long ago
I just want to get higher, dig me out of this hole!
I just want to get higher, I can’t breathe down low

Do you feel paralyzed? Are you hypnotized?
Un-bury my soul I’m down here choking
in a hole... please Un-bury my soul

My baby left me for the postman, now I can’t get a stamp!
My bills don’t get paid and I’m living like a tramp

Do you feel paralyzed? Are you hypnotized?
Un-bury my soul I’m down here gasping
in a hole... please Un-bury my soul

I can take about anything but down in a hole I can’t sing
I would do anything you say but down in a hole I’m wasting away
I could go about anywhere but down in a hole I can’t get air

I just want to get higher, but there’s no place left to go
Really need to get wiser, need the babe from long ago I just want to get higher, dig me out of this hole!
I just want to get higher, I can’t breathe down low

Unbury my soul
 Yea, unbury me

So Joe Strummer died
on the same day as my best friend Brad
You know he had that dream
then he went down pretty fast
Everybody saw it coming
except for me I saw it last
I saw him last!

We danced, we walked, we rocked around the block
Howled at the moon and the stars
 Couldn’t stop the clock
Like you can’ stop the snow and the rain
 Everybody heard the warning
But for me I heard it last
I heard him last! Long before the others
His ghost it danced with me
 And now I’m seeing colors
To know he’s flying free

Brad loved The Clash, Brad loved The Clash

When you know a soul from the start
before you meet him and when he’s gone
You don’t try to keep him
You nurse the bird and set him free
 His wings they’re beating fast
His wings were beating fast
beating so fast!

 Long before the others
His ghost danced with me
And now I’m seeing colors
 To know he’s flying free

Brad loved The Clash, Brad loved The Clash

Mother gave me back
But only in a letter
Since I left before she could
 She wouldn’t be misunderstood

Was her message on the back of a hand?
Was it written in her eyes?
Did you read it when you wept?
Did you read it when she left?

 We’re all damaged
 Mother damaged we are
 Rock and rollers on drugs
Little boys lost looking for love
 We all received the letter
 Now we’re crippled forever

The quiver of the bowstrings
the flexing of the bow I’m wrestling, I’m toiling
I’m fighting all alone

 Before I’m weaken and forgotten
my heart will find its home
But today I stand to take the punch
So I can lay down where I roam

 We’re all damaged
 Mother damaged we are
Rock and rollers on drugs
Little boys lost looking for love
 We all received the letter
Now we’re crippled forever

Larry “Wild Man” Fischer is our father
Divine he holds our hand
 Refusing to shut up
We sing across the land We’re all damaged
 Mother damaged we are
Rock and rollers on drugs
Little boys lost looking for love
We all received the letter
Now we’re crippled forever
 We all received the letter

 Now we’re crippled for...ever (c)2010, Jerry Oliver, Odd Records,ASCAP

What is the dark side of Iceland?

The devil’s smile between to horns
What is the bright side of your tattoo?

What are you gonna do when you change your mind?
Dye your hair? Stow away on a boat to Timbuktu?

Where is the dark side of Iceland?

I think you better run away
I think you better run away
To the dark side of Iceland

Who is the dark side of Iceland?

Dark and cold and far away
Like your heart of stone and my brittle bones

What are you gonna do when it all breaks down?
Dig yourself a hole, make the ground your home?

This is the dark side of Iceland

I think you better run away
I think you better run away
To the dark side of Iceland

Where is the dark side of Iceland? Behind the mountain where the sun goes down In your heart buried deep beneath the beating sound

Where are you gonna go when you can’t find your face?
Dig yourself a hole make a home in the ground?

Where is the dark side of Iceland?

I think you better run away
I think you better run away
to the dark side of Iceland
